THE EYE CLINIC / SURGICENTER NEWS--JULY, 2011

Sunshine and warmer weather are here at last! During this time of year, many of us are busy with yard work, spring cleaning and home repairs. We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of proper eye protection. Most eye injuries could be eliminated or greatly lessened by wearing the proper type of eye protection and making sure that it fits properly. For more information on eye health and safety and first aid for eye emergencies, please check our website.

More time outdoors means more exposure to sunlight. Now is a good time to update your sunglasses to be sure they give you proper protection from harmful radiation and glare. We have a full line of sunglasses in our Optical department, including Ray-Ban, Maui Jim, Vera Bradley and Kate Spade. If you enjoy golfing, check out the Callaway sunglasses—they enhance contrast, making it easier to see shadows on the green.

As plants start coming out of winter dormancy, allergies can also resurface. If you are a contact lens wearer and suffer from seasonal allergies or dry eyes, contact our doctors to find out which drops and/or contacts will work best for you. This is more than just a comfort issue. The risk of infection increases when the tear film is deficient. Please tell our doctors if you are experiencing itchy, burning or watering eyes. They will prescribe a treatment program that will not only make you more comfortable, but healthier too.

If you want freedom from wearing glasses or contact lenses, our One Vizit Iz It program allows many of our patients to come in for a complete LASIK evaluation and have surgery that same day. Standard LASIK surgery costs as little as $999/eye. Call Tony, our LASIK coordinator, and schedule your free LASIK consultation soon!

One of our favorite summer activities is celebrating the Fourth of July with family, friends and fireworks. According to the Consumer Safety Commission, more than 40% of all fireworks injuries happen to children under the age of 15. Please check our website for safety guidelines on the use of fireworks—preserving your vision is our passion!

Thank you for allowing The Eye Clinic Surgicenter to care for your vision needs. Your vision is and always will be our passion!
